Here's an idiom for you to try out this week in your daily speaking practice!

This is a great phrase that we say a lot, and it pretty much means exactly what it says. It means that up until now everything is going well. It does suggest that you maybe weren’t sure how successful something was going to be and for the moment everything looks fine, but you’re not sure about the future.
Let’s have a look at some examples:
Well it was a tough start but so far so good, we’ll have to see what happens next.
We’ve had to invest more in the business than we thought but so far so good; we’re making a profit.
She was worried about the new job and wasn’t sure she’d fit in with the team but so far so good.
Not formal or informal - can be used in lots of situations but remember you often use it when talking about something you thought wouldn't be successful or you were nervous about so make sure you're not talking to someone who thinks the opposite (thought it would be successful!) and you surprise them or hurt their feelings!
At a friend's wedding you don't want to say something like...
Well, I didn't think they were a good match at all, but it all looks so far so good for Rachel and David!
