This phrase can be used with 'let's not' or 'we don't need to' or 'there's no point reinventing...' and means; there is no need to invent / come up with / design something completely new on this occasion, and it's better to keep it simple / use what is already there.
In other words, to waste time learning how to do something when it is already known how to do it.
